Shell casings in a car’s footwell. A man killed in a drive-by shooting. Investigators searching for evidence and trying to determine who was responsible.
The scene may look real, but it’s a simulation at College of the Canyons. The mock crime gives students in the college’s criminal investigations class a chance to practice collecting evidence and solving a case.
The class teaches students how to investigate crimes commonly handled by California law enforcement agencies. Through hands-on exercises, students get a closer look at the work involved in a criminal investigation.
