The holiday season has started here in Santa Clarita, and to kick it off, the American Cancer Society brought the community together for its annual Holiday Boutique, a festive fundraiser to help support cancer patients, cancer survivors, and improve people’s lives every day.

Every 15 seconds, someone in the US hears the words “You have cancer,” and it’s the American Cancer Society’s mission to help these patients navigate the next steps to make sure they have the support they need.

“We raise money for cancer research and for support for patients. There’s a 24/7 phone that anybody can call. 800-227-2345. If anybody has any questions, 24/7, somebody LIVE will answer that phone,” said Laura Peach, one volunteer with the American Cancer Society.

The holiday boutique offered handcrafted gifts, holiday decor, toy donations for the little ones, and local vendors who donated a portion of their proceeds to the cause.

“Their participation is really nice, and people are a little bit more generous because they know that a lot of us are doing this as a donation,” said Leslie Borgen, a member of the Relay for Life Organization.

And for those who missed out on the fundraiser, there are donation options available at any time.

“They can go on to scvrelay.org, and at that website, there’s a place at the top of the website that says donate,” said Peach.

What the American Cancer Society strives for is making sure those battling cancer can enjoy this holiday season to the fullest, and with the community support, it continues to spark joy and hope.

“We have lots of things to offer, and you know, we like to share our knowledge for ACS,” said Peach.
