The Holiday Home tour hosted its 43rd anniversary at Hyatt Regency Valencia on Friday, December 1 at 6 pm. This Annual fundraiser includes the Virtual Tour, Gala, and Holiday Boutique.

The fundraiser benefits Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital Center for Women and
Newborns. All of this was possible because of Betty Burke; she started the foundation in 1981 due to her being a volunteer at Henry Mayo hospital, where they have been doing it for years.

“…volunteer at a hospital where they have been doing it for years. So we thought that’s a good idea that we could do it,” says Burke. “

So we had a meeting with the people she knew from the other hospital to find out exactly what you do. So he came back, and I told our CEO that we were going to do this. And he
said, Okay, don’t be disappointed if it doesn’t work out.”

As Betty Burke faced many trials and tribulations during the start of the foundation.
Many people, including the Henry Mayo CEO at that time, didn’t believe in her. But that didn’t stop her from creating the tremendous foundation she has now.

The current president at Henry Mayo Hospital Gala is very appreciative of Betty Burke and her willingness to continue this fundraiser
every year.

“So this turned out to be a much bigger event than it was before, so we gone from raising, say, 4 thousand dollars a year to over 100 thousand dollars a year that’s significant,” said Henry Mayo Hospital gala.
