Gilchrist Farm in Santa Clarita is celebrating its 10th anniversary with family activities and plans to expand services for people with special needs and others who need additional support.
Founded in 2016, the family-owned farm offers a year-round equestrian program, pony rides, wagon rides and goat milking. Its 10th annual Harvest Festival and Pumpkin Patch also features seasonal attractions, including pig races, tractor rides and pumpkins.
To begin its anniversary season, the farm hosted a Gratitude Gala honoring the people who have supported it over the years. At the event, the family introduced Jean’s Place, a nonprofit project aimed at making the farm’s services available to more people who could benefit from them.
Monica Gilchrist said the farm is raising money and awareness for the project while continuing its existing programs and activities.
For the people working at the farm, seeing families enjoy themselves is a highlight. Samantha Van Loo described children’s excitement during the pig races, while Farmer Sonny said watching children smile, laugh and return for more visits makes his work rewarding.
The farm welcomes the community every weekend. Reporter Katherine Montenegro shares how Gilchrist Farm combines recreation with plans to serve more residents.
