The event highlighted the important role dogs can have in comforting and
relieving stress for those fighting cancer. Attendees and their four-legged friends dressed up in a wide range of costumes while playing games and winning prizes.

The biggest win of the day was the $10,000 raised for The American Cancer Society.

“My mother was a breast cancer survivor, a 30-year breast cancer survivor and a 7-year cervical cancer survivor,” said Brad Peach, a member of the association.

“My dad was a prostate cancer survivor, my wife is a cancer survivor, and I lost a grandfather and an uncle both to cancer,” said Peach.

“So you know, it hits deep in our family, and we just want to see it gone.”

Brad’s wife, Laura, who encountered cancer herself, joined her husband in
volunteering to raise awareness and bring hope to those who are currently battling.

” The ACS works almost solely on volunteers,” said Laura. “Volunteers are just wonderful, they work enormous hours because of the passion that we have for the cancer, just getting rid of it.”
