On March 28th, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., the Santa Clarita community came together for the Battle of the Badges blood drive, which was organized by the Sheriff’s Station and the Red Cross.
The goal was not just to collect blood donations but to foster a spirit of unity and competition among local heroes.
“The significance behind it is that we compete against other first response agencies,” said Deputy Robert Jensen, a Santa Clarita Sheriff’s Station spokesperson.
“We compete to see who can get the most kind of support from the community as far as blood drives and blood donations,” said Jensen.
Participants included deputies, their families, and community members, all coming together to make a difference.
The event was widely promoted on social media, drawing attention to the critical need for blood donations.
“We want to recognize the Fire, the Sheriffs, the Police, the EMTs, the Highway Patrol,” said Bobby Woodall, Account Manager of the American Red Cross.
“We want to honor them in the first three months of each year with a blood drive,” said Woodall.
This blood drive not only reached its goal but also highlighted the dedication of the Santa Clarita community to supporting local hospitals and each other.
It’s a reminder of the lifeblood that connects us all.
Local first responders roll up their sleeves to compete for a noble cause
