Over the weekend, the Cowboy Festival returned to Santa Clarita after a three-year pause due to the Covid-19 Pandemic. The Festival took place in a new location this year instead of traditional Melody Ranch, as they sadled up on Main Street in Old Town Newhall. The event featured a variety of fun activities to do, while celebrating the city’s Western culture.
“You have literally transformed Newhall into this incredible country western scenario when back in the day, when I first arrived, it was pretty much nothing,” said Tim Shaner a Registered Investment Advisor.
It took place over the weekend and featured many activities for families such as axe throwing, a bouncy house, and an inflatable bull for people to ride on.
The festival allowed for businesses to get into the cowboy spirit, and allowed for people to enjoy themselves while listening to some down-home country music.
“I think it’s way to get back to the basics. Everybody has a good time. Everybody gets along. everybody’s enjoying themselves. Everybody seems happy,” said Joan Mostert an attendee of the Cowboy Festival.
While families all across the Santa Clarita Valley are all here for the Western Music Festivities, they are also here for the fantastic food vendors.
“So far, it’s a lot better than I thought it’s been super, super, super consistent. We immediately started selling the moment we opened and it’s I feel like it’s only going to get better,” said Pamela Billen who sold Kettle Corn, Funnel Cakes, Lemonade.
This event showcased the heritage of Newhall, and the city looks to continue the tradition of the festival for many years to come.
