California has experienced an unusual amount of rainfall this winter. Mudslides, snow and flooding have been happening all over the state. The amount of water has reached levels we haven’t seen in decades. Although this weather has created a lot of destruction, California residents have one thing to look forward to.

As soon as the weather starts to heat up, California is expected to experience a super bloom. This rare phenomenon only happens every 10 to 15 years, where a high proportion of wildflowers bloom. A remarkably wet winter has encouraged seeds to grow that have been dormant deep under the soil for years.

If you haven’t already, soon you’ll be able to see hillsides covered in our state’s national flower, the California Poppy as well as other flourishes of yellow and purple. If you see someone walking into these fields, encourage them to stay on the trails to help preserve this gorgeous landscape.
