With hundreds of job seekers in attendance, they had the opportunity to meet with local employers ranging from engineering, manufacturing, marketing, aerospace, theme parks and sales (just to name a few), all hoping to find the right fit.

“I’m going into environmental science, hopefully, so maybe
something in sustainability,” said CJ Duncan, an attendee looking for a new career.

“But I am entry-level, so we’ll see what I can find,” said Duncan.

But with local businesses like 99-cent-only stores closing and others like Grocery Outlet opening, what does the job market look like?

“I’d say it’s a bit of a balance right now,” said Rachel Alfred, who works for Actalent and specializes in recruiting science-based jobs.

“People are looking to hire, and people are looking to get hired,” said Alfred.

“I have job roles from entry to master level positions, some higher corporate exec roles,” said Alfred.

Job seekers who attended the event hope that speaking directly to employers looking to hire will pay off with the potential life-changing job offer.

“I’d love to get a place of my own…and to do something meaningful with my life,” said Duncan.

Organizers for the event say it’s important to stay proactive in your job search. They also suggest that if any students need assistance with their resumes or job interviews, to visit the employment center on campus.
