Through their affection, therapy dogs are trained to react and provide comfort. Finn the therapy dog goes above and beyond to share his love with the community with his owners, Sally and Sam Rogers.

We have always loved basset hounds, and we know that lots of people love dogs,” said Sally Rogers.

“We always wanted to have a therapy dog that we could share with our friends and family, schools, libraries, veterans and anyone who needs extra support or emotional support.”

“We love to give back to the community.”

Therapy dogs are widely used in schools and hospitals to reduce stress and anxiety. They are shown to detect nearly 90% to 96% of symptoms and provide comfort through their companionship.

“I just enjoy when people might need a little comfort or therapy, too, if they’re having a bad day, and petting Finn might help brighten their day,” said Sam Rogers.

Finn also has books about him, bringing joy and comfort to young kids.

“I also write books, children’s books, about Finn,” said Sally Rogers.

“How this got started was a little boy needed a special book about Finn, and going through the grief process, so I wrote a book.”

Finn makes an impact throughout the community by providing his services across SCV, making him memorable throughout town.

“Most of the time it’s by their smiles and their gratitude for seeing Finn,” said Sam Rogers.

“A lot of ‘thank yous’ and ‘you made my day’ and that sort of thing.”

As Finn continues his journey across Santa Clarita, he and his owners hope to bring more smiles and joy to the community.
