After opening the season with a 9–0 record, the best start in program history, the Women’s Soccer team has since stumbled, dropping three games and tying two.

The team has shifted into defense mode, working to avoid a full-on slump.

“When the conference started, we were kind of on a roller coaster. We’ve won some, we’ve lost some, we’ve tied,” said Bailey Williamson, a sophomore striker.

We obviously started our season the best we have in a really long time,” said Emma Winz, a sophomore defender.

But their hopes never waver as their team dynamic keeps them encouraged.

“We are a strong team this year as well, but I feel like our ability to just go out there and leave it all on the field kind of just describes how our team is united as one,” said Winz.

Kicking out their negative thoughts and throwing in support to one another are ways they move past the hardships and reset their mindset for each game.

“The way that we came back from our losses shows the dedication and the determination that we have to not only play for ourselves but also play for each other,” said Winz.

“We just all like have to remind each other that we’re here for one reason and we all want to win,” said Bailey Williamson, a sophomore striker.

Just focusing on the next game and not worrying about the past. There’s no reason to dwell on the two losses that we had,” said Mia Sadra, a freshman midfield defender.

As their season comes to an end, there is only one thing on their minds

“If we lose the next game, then I don’t think we’ll be first in conference. And I think we definitely want that first title,” said Williamson.

“I think if we all just work together and we all play for each other, that will pull off the result that we want,” Winz.
